Είναι κτισμένο πάνω στο μικρό νησάκι το οποίο χωρίζεται από την χερσόνησο της Χώρας με στενή λωρίδα θάλασσας, πλάτους 2-3 μέτρων. Μια πέτρινη γέφυρα που κτίστηκε από τους Ενετούς ενώνει το νησάκι με τη Χώρα. Το Κάστρο σωζόταν σε καλή κατάσταση μέχρι το 1943, όπου ένα μεγάλο μέρος των οικοδομημάτων του καταστράφηκε από βανδαλισμούς. Ωστόσο σώζονται ακόμη και σήμερα τμήματα των Πύργων του Φρουρίου με τις πολεμίστρες και τα οικόσημα των Ενετών αρχόντων.
Κατά την παραμονή σας στην Άνδρο μην παραλείψετε να επισκεφθείτε τα τρία μουσεία της Χώρας, που αποτελούν πραγματικά στολίδια της πόλης. Το Αρχαιολογικό μουσείο, που φιλοξενεί αξιόλογα εκθέματα.
