Η Τήνος ανήκει στις βόρειες Κυκλάδες και είναι το τρίτο σε μέγεθος νησί του συμπλέγματος μετά τη Νάξο και την Άνδρο. Βρίσκεται ανάμεσα στη Σύρο, την Άνδρο και τη Μύκονο.
Έχει έκταση 195 τ. χλμ. και είναι ορεινό νησί. Στην ανατολική πλευρά του νησιού βρίσκεται ο Τσικνιάς, το υψηλότερο βουνό με υψόμετρο 720 μ.

Η Χώρα, η πρωτεύουσα της Τήνου είναι μια πανέμορφη κυκλαδίτικη πόλη, με λάμψη, γοητεία, και κυρίως την εύνοια της Παναγίας, της Προστάτιδας του νησιού. Από το λιμάνι ξεκινάει η λεωφόρος της Μεγαλόχαρης που καταλήγει στον επιβλητικό ναό της Παναγίας της Τήνου. Είναι χαρακτηριστικό ότι στη δεξιά πλευρά του δρόμου, έχει τοποθετηθεί μια λωρίδα χαλιού που φτάνει ως τον περίβολο της εκκλησίας, για να διευκολύνει τους πιστούς που καταφτάνουν στη Παναγία γονυπετείς, εκπληρώνοντας το τάμα τους. Κατά μήκος της λεωφόρου λειτουργούν πολλά καταστήματα με λαμπάδες, κεριά κι αφιερώματα. Ανεβαίνοντας κανείς τον ανηφορικό δρόμο και βλέποντας στο βάθος να δεσπόζει ο επιβλητικός ναός, νοιώθει την κατανυκτική ατμόσφαιρα να τον κατακλύζει.
Ο παραθαλάσσιος οικισμός Κιόνια είναι το δημοφιλέστερο τουριστικό θέρετρο της Τήνου. Βρίσκεται σε απόσταση 3 χλμ από την πόλη. Προσεγγίσετε εύκολα ακολουθώντας κανείς το παραλιακό δρόμο με κατεύθυνση προς τα δυτικά. Η παραλία του είναι μια από τις ωραιότερες του νησιού. Απέραντη αμμουδιά που χρυσίζει κάτω από τον ήλιο, γαλάζια διάφανα νερά και καλή οργάνωση συνθέτουν το τέλειο καλοκαιρινό σκηνικό.
Κοντά στην αμμουδιά βρίσκονται και τα ερείπια του αρχαίου ναού του Ποσειδώνα και της Αμφιτρίτης.
Στην περιοχή λειτουργούν αρκετά ξενοδοχεία και ενοικιαζόμενα δωμάτια που ικανοποιούν τις ανάγκες κάθε επισκέπτη.
Ο Πύργος είναι το μεγαλύτερο χωριό της Τήνου. Βρίσκεται σε απόσταση 30 χλμ. από τη Χώρα. Είναι ένα από τα ωραιότερα χωριά του νησιού και ένα από τα γραφικότερα των Κυκλάδων. Η αρχοντική του ομορφιά, η παραδοσιακή αρχιτεκτονική και η αυθεντικότητα των τοπίων του, του προσδίδουν μια ξεχωριστή ατμόσφαιρα.
